INCREASINGLY COLOURFUL

Current discourse on painting in Austria is developing dynamically; this has, however, led to more than mere pluralisation. The reframing of the concept of painting – a fundamental element of this discourse – focuses rather on specific themes and interstices of conflict.
The artists presented in IMMER BUNTER testify to this: their art practice includes concept art that reflects upon visual production historically, via media and socially, painting that works with performance and merges unusual materials and technologies in the three-dimensional space as well as paintings that investigate current social contexts.
