Journey to Jerusalem
Artist´s Positions to Religion, Tradition and Taboo
The starting point of Journey to Jerusalem is the preoccupation of the international artists assembled here with the role of religion and tradition in their art practice.
Not only have all these artists adopted Berlin as their home, they also share the motivation of examining religion from a contemporary and personal perspective. In terms of theme, the focus is on the three most important monotheistic religions – Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The works presented here, created in a variety of artistic media such as performance, painting and photography, create an explosively topical dialogue between religion, tradition and art.
