Allen Jones is one of the leading exponents of British Pop Art and played a decisive role in the success of a new figurative art movement in the 1960s. This catalogue features more than 20 new oil paintings by the artist. The works portray figures on a stage of light, rhythm and movement, seemingly achieving a sensuously ecstatic fusion of bodies and colour spaces. Jones' interest in the themes of fetishism and obsession is reflected in his subjects, who come from the worlds of sport and dance. In these works, the artist displays his ability to exploit the tension between figurative art and gestural abstraction.
