Does the Bauhaus still contribute to further developments in photographic pictorial languages? What role does the avant-garde photography play for contemporary artists today? At the center of Bauhaus and Photography is the reconstruction of László Moholy-Nagy’s photography-section at the legendary 1929–1930 Werkbund-exhibition Film und Foto (Film and Photo).

Axel Brandt

Trouble’s Brewing
In his painting, Axel Brandt uses a representational subject that focuses on contemporary themes. He is not concerned with politically correct representations. His aim is to provide food for thought and raise issues. His brushwork is generous, in places suggesting a figurative reduction, yet inherent in the whole is a reality which is familiar to the viewer and initiates additional chains of association.
This catalogue presents series of works from 2010 to 2013, among them new “brass band music paintings”, the “multiple-footed pope paintings” and the latest “wild boar paintings with Alpine panorama”.
