BELVEDERE

Why is Landscape Beautiful?

Belvedere – a beautiful view, often from an elevated point in the landscape, which usually seems like an image from this perspective. Our image of the landscape is examined here in more detail using artistic means. The publication accompanies the exhibition and presents artworks from recent decades that look at landscape as a site of longing or as a construct – a profound examination of this theme that maintains a contemporaneous focus and uses a great number of texts from diverse scholarly and literary areas.
