Black Mountain Research

Black Mountain College in North Carolina is legendary. Here, the greatest artists of the 20th century taught using revolutionary approaches and their influence on the development of the arts and academic teaching methods in the second half of the 20th century was enormous. Within the framework of the first German exhibition on the college, an international research project took place. A team of scholars from the Freie Universität and curators at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin researched, learned, and published for public consumption. The related publication now presents a selection of participants’ contributions and materials, thus making the working methods and results accessible and transparent for interested individuals.
