Believing History
Contemporary art at Lorsch Abbey
The catalogue for the “Believing History” exhibition in World Heritage Site Lorsch Abbey presents 12 works by 15 students at German art schools, which link central themes around the Second Vatican Council with the monastery and its historical legacy. These young artists represent various nations, and their questions address our times. At the same time, they refer constantly to Lorsch Abbey as an ‘uncompromisingly shaped fragment, which stirs the imagination,’ in order ‘to enable clergy and lay people to draw closer within a critical dialogue.’ (Florian Matzner / Sabine Weingartner)
