In 2015 "Du sollst dir (k)ein Bild machen (Thou shalt make [no] images)" took place in an art cube built especially for the show inside the Berlin Cathedral. This lovingly designed, illustrated reader is a guide to the show’s ten sections. 60,000 visitors from all over the world experienced the lively interplay of sacred art dating from the twelfth century onward. The show included works from the Bamberg Cathedral’s treasure trove of art, as well as contemporary pieces by around fifty artists, such as Marina Abramović, Lucio Fontana, Grayson Perry, and Miwa Yanagi. The book discusses “the churches’ new desire for images” and its many pictures of the show, essays, visual meditations, commentary, and sermons bring the exhibition to life for the reader.
