The pictorial worlds of the Berlin painter Frank Ahlgrimm unite the seemingly contrastive and contradictory. His wide-ranging abstract language of forms involves stringent colour fields as much as it does impetuous colour textures and illusionistically sprayed surfaces, the combination of script and image right through to figurative motifs that always reflect the current social present. These combined material processes, which perpetually negotiate the history of painting and incorporate cross references to the mythology of art as well as to the challenges of a mediated world, are presented for the very first time in the publication TRUST ME.
