In around 30 oil works, this publication conveys a “topography of the imaginary landscape” (Jürgen Doppelstein) whose colour spectrum goes straight for the viewer’s eye. The pictorial compositions of the Hamburg painter Frank Wiebe confront the viewer with the world and its physical and biological phenomena. Emerging from this confrontation is an interplay between transparency and opacity, density and dissolution, stagnation and process, which explores the regularities of basic social configurations as well as of natural phenomena.
