Fritz Schwegler
Effeschiaden
‘Effeschiaden’ is the name – based on the pronunciation of his own initials, ‘F’ and ‘Sch’ – given by Swabian artist Fritz Schwegler to the colourful drawings with “sculptural texts” in DIN A4 format created by him between 1969 and 1974. An exhibition of these works in the legendary Düsseldorf gallery Alfred Schmela in 1971 brought Schwegler sudden international renown. Out of the bundle originally encompassing 600 sheets, this comprehensively annotated catalogue of works contains 570 Effeschiaden titles, of which 516 are illustrated and their text transcribed.
