With its large exhibition on the most prominent Jewish figure of legend, the Golem (Hebr. גולם), the Jewish Museum Berlin has dedicated itself to a narrative strand that continues to inspire artists, filmmakers, and authors until today. The Jewish Museum Berlin is now presenting the wealth of possible interpretations of the Golem—from its creation based on a ritual of Jewish mysticism to the artificial creature of popular culture. In the extensive catalogue, experts from various disciplines present their associations with the exhibits. Excerpts from literary texts that have shaped the image of the legendary figure round out the volume.
