The “Archaeologist’s Collection” presents one of the main projects by the well-known Russian-American artist Grisha Bruskin, in which he explores how cultural, historical and ideological mythologies are born, exist, and turn to ruins. “The Soviet Union collapsed like a house of cards in 1991”, writes Grisha Bruskin. “I decided to step into a time machine and head for the distant future, to an archaeological dig that unearthed Soviet civilization, mysterious and unknown to the people of the future.” The book contains documents from the exhibit, which took place in the famous landmark of Soviet-era architecture – the cinema theater “Udarnik”, in Moscow.
