Today, more than ever, the concept of homeland must be extricated from cliché and appropriation and re-established in a society that is in transition. This catalogue is based on three juried exhibitions organised by the Kreiskunstverein Beckum-Warendorf under the umbrella title “MyHeimat”. The exhibitions took place in 2014 (Origin), 2015 (Transition) and 2016 (Arrival).

In addition to a number of short essays, the catalogue features a discriminating selection of the works produced. An abstract concept like 'homeland' appeals to the viewer's senses through an intuitive, often personal but also reflective exploration by 52 artists. This art does not provide any images of 'homeland'. It opens up, expands and renews each person's own concept of homeland. (Hermann Ühlein)
