Since the middle of the 1980s, Helmut Middendorf has created many new series of collages and sketch blocks, as well as his paintings.
The artist filters out his material from the mountains of media waste: from magazines, newspapers, digital downloads, film stills, comics, caricatures, photographs of sex, violence and politics – the whole entire world of trivial myths – in order to deconstruct, abstract, satirise and position it in new contexts. He works in a similar way with his watercolour drawings whose theme could be summarised with the title “Banale Grande”.
This publication documents a selection of work from 1994 to 2012.
