This publication spans more than forty years of artistic work by the painter Henning Bertram (b. 1962). Many in the Rhineland know him through his large-scale charcoal drawings of seemingly archaic fragments of architecture. This book provides for the first time insight into Bertram’s early work and the spectrum of his artistic career— an unremittingly explorative path, switching between the abstract and the figurative, culminating in a surprising corporeality evident in his current work.
