Tony Smith would have been 100-years-old on September 23, 2012. His work, the first cube as abstract sculpture, from 1962, meant that the former architect took on a significant role at the time of the turning point from Abstract Expressionism to Minimal Art.
His daughters are also active in the art world. Kiki Smith is famous for her presentations of the female body. Seton Smith photographs architecture, focusing today largely on images of landscapes.
The work of this family of artists is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue with detailed texts, a broad range of images and previously unpublished documents and interviews with Tony Smith.
