In recent years, Finnish artist Kirsi Mikkola has focused on her own unique style of abstract painting. Instead of brushstrokes, she constructs her works using countless colourful strips and sheets of paper, arranging them side by side or in layers. Mikkola constantly transcends her limits in both large and small works with complex and delicate structures and dissonant colours.
She describes her artistic production not so much as a process that involves creating and refining a harmonious whole but also as an act of concentrated eruption.
