Few artists are in such high demand today as the sculptor, installation, and performance artist Nevin Aladağ. In 2025, she was awarded the renowned State Prize for the Visual Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg, which also entails an exhibition. The accompanying publication follows the conceptual approach upon which much of Aladağ’s work is based. She removes everyday items—rugs, furniture, or instruments—from their original context and transforms them into artworks that transcend the boundaries of sculpture, installation, video, and sound art. Again and again the audience is confronted with their familiar habits of perception and with questions relating to tradition, belonging, and identity.
With a compact format and a number of surprising features, this publication provides fascinating insight into Aladağ’s artistic career to date and her latest works. With an illustrated booklet, including an introductory text and thirty postcards with numerous reproductions of her works, this publication is a unique tribute to her oeuvre.
