‘New York is a dream’. At least for all those people who land in the Big Apple every day in the hope that they can make something of themselves. Yet how many of them actually do that? And how do the people living there, who have failed or succeeded, feel? Photographer Nadine Ottawa and journalist Nuria Furrer explored these issues. They approached people on the streets of New York, asking them to complete the sentence: ‘New York is …’. This catalogue presents the resulting poetic, bizarre, funny, intimate and sad portraits.
