In the early 1990s, influenced by the Renaissance masters and under the aegis of Arno Rink and Neo Rauch, Rayk Goetze began to establish a painting style which innovatively and confidently combined figuration and abstract positing. Published on the occasion of his solo exhibition ‘Universum Zwo’ in the Kunstraum Potsdam, this monograph affords numerous insights into the works created by the artist from 2012-2014. With its interplay between selected works, close-ups, installation views and texts by Stephan Köhler and Mark Gisbourne, the catalogue leads us deep into the pictorial world – the true ‘Universe’– of Rayk Goetze.
