This compact volume is a companion to the exhibition Twenty-Three Sketches for Living in the Future at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. In a dialogue between visitors and the exhibition curator, playfully conceived as one among many possible encounters, the visitors emerge as curious and reflective—concerned about the future of housing, and thus about life and how people will live together as a society. They have questions about deeper causes, about facts and how they are connected. Werner Sobek provides answers from the perspective of a scientist—with precision, breadth, and clarity. The result sketches a view of the real world that complements the imaginary one of the exhibition.
