Ulrich Hakel
Suite Voilà
Ulrich Hakel's Suite Voilà is inspired by a series of etchings that Picasso produced in the 1930s for the art dealer Ambroise Vollard and are now known as the Suite Vollard. In this series of ink drawings, Hakel takes one of the central themes of the historic Suite, the sculptor's studio, as the starting point for considering the role of the artist, his or her inspiration and the contexts of art. Picasso's work also serves as the material as it is quoted, revised and translated into a contemporary artist's reality in Hakel's unmistakable drawing style.
