Veit Mette
People in museum
Veit Mette, a photographer based in Bielefeld, has been documenting exhibition openings in Kunsthalle Bielefeld for 20 years. He focuses on that major/minor moment when a visual narrative stands out: when the observer and the object observed stand across from each other as if reflected; when the artwork and the real situation merge into one or enter an intriguing state of juxtaposition. The unobserved moment, the grace note is the centre of the photography of Veit Mette, who describes himself ironically as a “snapshot-taker” and “the guy in the corner”.
