The internationally renowned photographer and author of books Walter Vogel (* 1932), who is widely known for his unforgettable portraits of Pina Bausch and Joseph Beuys, has also achieved success with his diverse travel photos, with a focus on Italy’s café-bars. What has, however, received less attention thus far is his art of photographing female beauty, which has extended, repeating periodically, over a longer period of time, and set itself the task of linking beauty with the distinct personalities of his models. The new photo book, Ewa Eva, now presents this part of his oeuvre and can simultaneously be regarded as an homage to specifically those numerous women who served as his models, but are for the most part unfamiliar to the public.
The photos are supplemented by Walter Vogel’s personal memories.
