Yevgeniya Safronova addresses fundamental questions of the sculptural such as the relationship between sculptural volume and space, surface, contour, repetition, and movement. Her sculptures frequently feature crystalline, honeycomb- or knot-like structures, while others call to mind snakes or tubes. The forms, which are often developed in work series, are imaginary, but contain echoes of nature or of human creations. In a smaller format they are executed in plaster or synthetic material, in larger dimensions in epoxy resin. This catalogue documents the Safranova’s entire artistic spectrum for the first time, from her time at the academy in 2004 until today. The DVD that is included provides two video documentations of the light installations Regenhaus (House of Rain) and Lichterfluss (River of Lights).
