Departure Arrival

>>Departure>> is the name of the scholarship in the department of fine arts at the Academy of the Arts in Berlin that has been financed since 1998 by the federal state of Saarland. This is a cultural project that deserves to be better known. >>Arrival>> stands for the group exhibition in Saarbrucken of the six artists from Saarland who received the scholarship: Caroline Armand, Frauke Eckhardt, Jens Geelhaar, Rolf Giegold, Stefanie Hoppe and Anke Menck. These artists chose to work with each other in >>couples>> during their time in Berlin. These couples developed projects that dealt with the concept of “space”. They were concerned with social, mental and virtual space right through to place-related intervention, portraying these aspects through sculpture, installation, sound, and new media.
