Ekkehard Tischendorf takes us on a journey into the broad expanse of the imagination with pictures full of a disturbing visual language and a luminous intensity of colour. His works polarise viewers and break through their reserve, but also display an unconditional commitment to his oeuvre.
In Endlich beginnt Unendlichkeit / Finally Infinity Begins, an exhibition that is deliberately ambiguous, evocative and animated, Tischendorf offers his latest series of paintings and drawings from 2008 and 2009 for reflection. The connotations cover a lot of ground, incorporating the art-historical, demonic, world-historical, sacred, profane and autobiographical in a mutually beneficial dialogue. An ambiguous cosmos of mysteriousness and symbolism, which provocatively challenges and confronts the viewer thus characterises Tischendorf’s current works.
