Ernesto Tatafiore

Verso

The Neapolitan artist Ernesto Tatafiore (born 1943 in Naples) reveals himself as a painting poet and sceptic, whose pictorial language tells of existence’s brighter and darker sides, and “(...) formulates the tension between facade and mental torment, reason and emotion, morals and misdeeds, and virtue and terror in symbolic art.” (Michael Stitz) With Neapolitan ease and grandeur the artist has thereby embossed his work with a unique stamp permitting entrance into a visually powerful and narratively multilayered pictorial world. This world of his is full of puzzles and contradictions that feed upon his distinctive interest in those breaking points of European history still influential and of fundamental importance to our collective, civil co-existence.
