Ferdinand Hodler (1853–1918) is among the most important Swiss artists of the early twentieth century. He developed an unmistakable style within Symbolism and Art Nouveau.

Frank Bauer

Paintings 2005–2014
This monograph features representative works of Düsseldorf-based artist Frank Bauer from the last ten years. The former master class student of Gerhard Richter displays his painting skills in three classical genres here: landscape, still life and portrait. In addition to the realistic technique displayed in the works, these paintings also share a common origin in photography. All of the photographs come from Bauer himself; many of them have a special personal significance for him. For Bauer, the translation of photography into painting plays a particularly important role - the imperfect shots in particular present him with attractive challenges.
