Gereon Krebber

All that is solid melts into air

Gereon Krebber (born in 1973) works in an artistic genre often left behind by technological advances: sculpture. His subject is the flowing nature inherent in the creative process of the plastic arts. Although his work may have representational tendencies, it also has liquid, pliant and transitory aspects. His pieces are created from materials like gelatine, clusters of balloons wrapped in plastic film, plastic mats, and icing. His shapes float in space and, at the same time, react to the architecture of their exhibition space, which endows them an extremely corporal and vivid character. The artist’s approach means that his works are never truly “complete”, that they remain unfinished in some way.
