Jason Martin
For Gods Sake
Jason Martin (1970 born in New Jersey), one of the most important contemporary British artists, is presenting new works with the title of “For Gods Sake“ that negotiate the boundaries between abstract and figurative art and those between drawing, painting and sculpture. The central focus of his oeuvre are monochrome works with a combed surface, the ridges created produce a three-dimensional painted surface. Here abstraction takes on a physical structure that can be experienced in a tactile way and can be interpreted as representational. The title refers to the open, contemplative content of his works. This catalogue documents a number of works that investigate religious themes as well as Martin’s first work for a sacred space.
