Karl-Heinz Klopf

FROM / TO

“FROM / TO” is a detailed review of the oeuvre of the Austrian artist Karl-Heinz Klopf, an artist who has worked on theme of urbanity, media, and topography for over twenty-five years. Klopf’s work refers to the complex of relationships between bodies, cities and urbanism and displays an uncompromising preoccupation with architecture(s), space and spaces. In his artistic discourse, the urban spaces, architectures and bodies in metropolises like Tokyo, Paris, New York, Hong Kong, and Vienna are concealed, revealed, transformed, falsified and extended using digital space. In his imagined and real urban spaces and structures, Klopf interweaves individual spatial experiences with constructed surroundings, whereby he looks not only at perceptions of urbanity, place, space and time, but also creates a new space for interconnections and experiences.
