Whether construction sites, parking lots, or a Baroque city palace as in the city of Saarbrücken—one might encounter the art of the New Yorker Russell Maltz anywhere.

Wolfgang Neumann

In his paintings and drawings, Wolfgang Neumann cites famous scenes and protagonists from images – ones we know well – that are transmitted by the contemporary media. The artist (*1977) reduces individual motifs to create grotesque-surreal compositions replete with content; the viewer can thus choose from a great number of “immediate” ways of accessing the work.
