“Things can only be diverse and should be diverse,” wrote Donald Judd in 1964 about the art scene in New York, and hence rejected a one-dimensional ordering of art history in favor of an open encounter with works of art.

Marc Lüders

System Plural
Marc Lüders’s work is distinguished by its subtle painterly interventions in the visual space of photos. His “Photopictures” show hovering painted objects and topographically displaced figures in anonymous settings. In this current cycle of work, Lüders has allowed transparent figures to crop up in his pictures, which allow the forms and colours of the original photos – for instance, forest or market scenes – to show through. This transparency has the effect of detaching these figures more and more from their temporary environment.
This catalogue features around forty new artworks, dating mainly from the last two years.
