Mythos Kindheit

Childhood. For adults, it exists only through memories, the child’s view of the world is lost to them. Thoughts about childhood manifest themselves in many mysteries and associations: innocence, purity, paradise or fear, helplessness, failure. Childhood becomes a mysterious place steeped in destiny, a myth – and a mythical and utopian motif in the visual arts.
Mythos Kindheit (Myth of Childhood) brings together contemporary artists who have reflected on this theme and addressed it in very different ways, some in a very personal manner, others using an artistic-critical approach: dealing with childhood memories, self-discovery, appropriation of the world but also with the creation of new, individual worlds has resulted in works that fascinate and touch viewers and prompt them to reflect on existence itself. After all, we were all children once.
