Nineteen Artists

From 2007 to 2009 the exhibition gallery EL SOURDOG HEX e.V. in Berlin is presenting a cycle of works from 19 internationally famous artists from a range of art movements – from Fluxus to Minimal Art, Color Field Painting to Environment Art – during the period 1950 to 2000. The publication is a retrospective view of the works of these artists as well as a presentation of photographs of the installations in the exhibition cycle, along with biographies. The artworks are all on loan from a private collection in Berlin. In addition to surrealist large-format works by Roberto Matta and colour “Statements” by Lawrence Weiner, “Western Songs” by William N. Copley, which examine the myths of everyday American culture, are also exhibited among the accumulation of artists on show.
