Reinhard Stangl

Lemon Yellow & Jet Black

Painting is colour and Reinhard Stangl is a painter in Berlin. The nocturnal city, its streets and its faces, illuminating desire in the anonymity of darkness; this is what makes up many of his paintings. The artist was born in 1950 and grew up in East Berlin, studied in Dresden and has lived in West Berlin since 1980. This is the first comprehensive publication of his works and provides an insight into the rich and characteristic art practice of contemporary painting. Interest in a very specific colour is often the catalyst for the creation of an entire series of paintings. Even at the end it is the colours of the objects that characterise the harmonically contradictory balance of his passionate paintings.
