William Kentridge is highly regarded internationally for his works, which he realizes with masterly ease. They combine the humoresque with the incidental and are always characterized by an engaged, critical stance.

Sieben auf einen Streich

Seven publications present seven young artists from six European countries. Each of the participating artists creates his or her own autonomous pictorial, spatial and conceptual cosmos; this is visible as a (subjective) cross-section of his or her oeuvre. Individual artistic positions are presented that all, in their own way, express the tension between a historical and political search for identity and an autonomous aesthetic positioning of the self.
This book is shaped as much by process and performative methods of production as by conventional aesthetic genres. However, it is also shaped by a functional self-reflection that expresses connections that are dysfunctional or are even beyond the realms of art.
