Sven Drühl breaks down visual forms and visual types conceptually from the Romantic period to the present day. He recombines the constituent parts using his own motifs in a remix process.
Drühl responds to the crisis of expression in post-modern painting with this transformative citation but does not quite give up on painting himself. His involvement with art history and his continuing investigation of painting as a medium is too important to him. His series of paintings are therefore fascinating copies that motivate the viewer to question perception and at the same time ultra-sensual, impressive new creations.
