Liquid Identities (Volume I - III)

Media artist Thomas Henke (born 1972) has developed a new method of making film portraits. ´Liquid Identities I-III´ reviews the first portraits of his new series of works. One of the aims of his portraiture art is to make visible the interior of personalities, their variability and contradictoriness. Henke selects his protagonists and lets them film themselves and their personal surroundings. He uses the raw material thus gained to edit from it portrait films of extreme liveliness which breathe the person of the portrayal. His ´Liquid Identities´ are dedicated to the self-presentaton of young people, which challenge the experience of the observer to take up his own position. Contrasts in the thoughts and ways of life of young people today collide with each other in the films. The installations by Lorenz Estermann (born 1968) are vessels for an explosive content.
