In their series of exhibitions entitled This Landscape is NOWHERE, artists Ulrich Möckel and Christoph Seidel convey a unique and powerful experience of Nature, illustrating its sensual quality and the way it is dealt with artistically.
Over the course of two years, a number of very different, location-specific exhibitions emerged as, in each case, the artists implemented their own ideas about landscape with images, drawings, objects and installations. They both managed to make the diversity of landscape completely tangible in terms of conceptual range and by oscillating between the aesthetic imagination and direct experience. In addition to extensive photographic documentation of the project, short essays explain the artists’ understanding of Nature and reflects their method of working, which always assumes Nature to be an anthromorphic counterpart.
