The internationally renowned photographer Walter Vogel is widely known for his unforgettable portraits of Pina Bausch and Joseph Beuys. What has, however, received less attention thus far is his art of photographing female beauty.

Veit Mette

Ebene Null. Level 0
"Ebene Null" (Level 0) is the term normally used to describe the central hallway of the University of Bielefeld. Ebene Null is where people meet and where they make their way to the lecture theatres, where the shops, benches and the post office are located. Ebene Null is the central communication forum of the University of Bielefeld.
In two photographic excursions (both lasting several days), the Bielefeld photographer Veit Mette, himself a former student of the University of Bielefeld, has captured the daily life of the university on Ebene Null; his rigorous gaze showing scenes that are anything but everyday. His black-and-white motifs are artistic and authentic documentations of university life. Nothing has been posed; nothing has been changed. Even so, most of the individual figures have the character of statues, dominating the scenes. The photographer gives them his complete attention.
