Frank Gaudlitz (*1958) is one of the most important German photographers of today. For three decades, he has occupied himself with the transformation of Russian society and in his photos shows how much disparity there is in the country.

„von zweifellos künstlerischem Wert“ – Paul Goesch und seine Werke zwischen Anstalt und Avantgarde

The lifework of Paul Goesch (1885–1940) is a particularly impressive example of the interplay between art and mental illness. He created a multifaceted oeuvre of paintings and drawings that initially caused a sensation as part of the Berlin avant-garde after the First World War, but was then increasingly forgotten due to the artist’s psychiatric issues. In his work, he plays with image patterns from myth and Christianity and expresses his yearning for salvation. The new publication continues the discussion about a fascinating artist of the modern age, which began with an overview exhibition and a conference at the Prinzhorn Collection in Heidelberg in 2016–17.
