Contemporary Art Inspired by the Bible

On the occasion of the Luther Decade leading up to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, in which the visual art of Lucas Cranach and his paintings on biblical themes play a very special role, Johannes Beer has invited artists to submit a work based on the Bible. Here, he is looking less for classical illustrations than for an encounter with independent works with a biblical content, so that a dialogue is created at eye-level.
The spectrum ranges from oil or acrylic paintings, to drawings and a wide variety of graphics, all the way to photographic works and sculptures, yielding a reflection of contemporary art.
