Material in contemporary art
In art today no material seems to be extrinsic anymore, no medium left untried. The publication illustrates the pointed use of varying materials as artistic media. Thirteen contemporary positions elucidate in the diversity of their approaches the pluralism of current art production. At the same time the strategy, using the material as an influential key factor, fundamentally references a common use. This applies as much to the classic media as it does the materials formerly alien to art.
