Crime Scene PADERBORN
The Pedestrian Zone – An Art Project
Who owns the public space? What’s happening in our city centres? This catalogue is published as an accompaniment to the eponymous art project in the public space, which is curated by Florian Matzner. It scrutinises for the first time the urban-development, social and psychological aspects of that peculiarly German phenomenon, the pedestrian precinct. What importance does this relict of the post-war German ‘economic miracle’ have in today’s modern urban society? Topics such as faceless uniformity coupled with sensory overload, enticement to consume and the renunciation of consumption are explored.
