Cony Theis - Imprisoned Secrets
Portraits in Forensic Psychiatric Clinics
On the invitation of the Landschaftsverband Rheinland (the Rhineland Regional Council), the artist Cony Theis is continuing her investigations to expand the portrait in the participatory project “Gefangene Geheimnisse” (Imprisoned Secrets). Her aim is to portray patients who have been detained under a hospital treatment order – forensic patients in special clinics, who have committed a crime due to a mental illness or an addiction problem but who are not criminally liable or only partially criminally liable – in a different way to the way in which they are usually portrayed.
The focus of the artistic concept and this catalogue is on the “(Self-)Portrait” and “Secret” and the participants’ examination of their own biographies.
