Curious?

21st century art from private collections

The involvement of private collectors is an important aspect of contemporary art. “Neugierig?“ attempts to shed light on their role by focusing on the relationship between art and the current political, social and private reality. The works that are presented here come from fifteen selected private collections. Most of the artists who produced these works were born in the 1970s. A common thread running through the exhibition is that the works were developed on the basis of clear concepts and strategies and are characterised by either a radical reduction in form and a minimalist use of materials or by a clearly visible graphic representation and extensive use of narrative structures. The result is a glimpse at the polar opposites of contemporary art, a reflective surface, a place for reflection and a proposition for curiosity.
