Camilo José Vergara
Tracking Time: Documenting America’s Post-Industrial Cities
This catalogue is devoted to the work of American photographer Camilo Vergara. He has been chronicling the tension in poverty-stricken, deprived areas in American cities for more than 40 years. His photographs document urban change, illustrate the symptoms of social conflict and show the widening gap in American society. As a visual tracker, photographic sociologist, ethnographer and urban researcher, he has created a unique archive of American (urban) history, cataloguing the changes in and break-up of neighbourhood communities.
